Thank you for this Prayer walk. I believe that Jesus did say he was God in many of the scriptures you gave us or it was alluded to by other scriptures. The ones I think confirms this is John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God & John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Although this is not Jesus himself saying it, it is written by someone who was with Him during his Ministry and knew Him so well. Personally I have never doubted that Jesus was God and that He was truly God and truly man. However I know that others may have a different opinion than me and that is OK. I hope this makes sense as I find it hard to put my thoughts into words.
I have read the scripture verses you gave us and I know the Bible is the inspired word of God and he gave us free will to believe and think after reading His word. Jesus was sent to earth to die for our sins. He prayed to the father asking him to forgive not just those who crucified him, but he was praying for all who had sinned. When I was reading the verses you gave us, I was thinking about the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and how you would explain the to children. An example for them would be to open an apple and show the children the skin, the flesh and the seed. 3 parts. It actually comes down to how people read and understand what they have read and then believe. Thank you so much for these prayer walks. I continue to pray for you every day.
Good morning my friend. Thank you for your steadfast heart for Jesus. This was exciting for me because my favorite scripture is John 8:58. Jesus said I am that I am. When Jesus was born He emitted so much light it’s referred to as a star when it was the pure essence of God that directed even men from another place to search for Him. It’s said His ministry began at age 30 when we read that following his bar mitzvah He was already teaching in the synagogue and speaking with authority among the religious. I do believe that other than crucifixion because of what Jesus claimed the leaders knew He was what He claimed to be since Jesus fulfilled the prophecies spoken of Him in the Old Testament. Raising Lazarus.from the dead, healing the lepers and the man with the withered hand. They knew ithey wanted to snuff out the fact that Jesus was who He claimed to be. They wanted to hold their dominance over the people. Thankfully Jesus remains to be who He claims to be. Talking to others today is difficult and we still have pharisees and Sadducees just in different forms, religions, and persuasions. I do feel some just have to meet Jesus himself to be convinced. We are to keep up the good fight encouraging people to follow Him for a resurrection hope.
Good morning Donny! While you were walking and talking, God led me to one of the scriptures you read from Colossians 1:15-18. In the NLT of the Bible I have, I love the way God led Paul to write the very first sentence of verse 5 - "Christ is the visible image of the invisible God." One of the main words I heard you repeat multiple times is the one I kept hearing myself say in my mind from the very onset of the prayer walk; and that is "belief" or "believe." I truly believe God gave each of us the free will of choice to believe or not believe that Jesus Christ is God (Son of God). I'm not a Bible Scholar and I'm full of flaws, but it comes down to an individual choice of placing oneself in truly having full faith and trust and to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. To me, a non-believer may believe in their mind that Jesus Christ existed, but do they believe that Jesus Christ is actually God? For me, that simply comes down to a personal choice and belief. I guess that's where I draw the conclusion for myself personally. For myself, Jesus Christ is God. He came to earth in human form to live among us to show us the greatest act of love the world has known or ever will know; and that is the selfless act of love of dying on the cross to forgive us once and for all for our sins. Three days later, he rose from the grave so that we who truly believe and have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts will live with Him in eternity. One of my devotions this morning touched a little on this subject. I love how God constantly works through each of us. For me, Jesus Christ is Lord. My prayer and hope is that others who have questions about this will come to the same choice I have. All we can do is plant the seeds and hope and pray they grow. Thank you Donny and God bless you and the community.
You are absolutely right, Anne, to pray that the Holy Spirit who has the power of conviction will do it for those who do not believe in Jesus, since the only condition for salvation is to believe that Jesus was born, died, rose again to free us from the sin.
The Bible says that salvation comes only from Jesus. Without the help of Jesus, no one can be saved. There is no other way to be saved (Acts 4:12).
How I love these walks that get us to think more deeply about what the Bible tells us.
During the whole walk and the various questions, I thought only of the “Trinity” – one of the most difficult theological concepts to be understood rationally – therefore, there is no understanding by human intelligence, but by faith, and this implies believing in the Bible, as the word of God and in all the teachings preached by Jesus.
The Trinity deals with the diversity that exists in the unity of God, in the persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, therefore, it must be considered that we are facing a great mystery, that is, it is impossible for man to understand and explain the Trinity fully.
God is greater than our ability to understand him.
What men know of God has been revealed by God himself, through the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The bible says:
Jesus is the Son of God, is with God and is God (John 1:1).
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit were together from the beginning (John 1:2).
So I believe that God is a Trinity!
God and Jesus are part of the Trinity. This does not diminish the divinity of God or Jesus. Whoever knows the Father knows the Son and the Holy Spirit, the three are one!
See this scripture (John 14:8-10) when Philip says, "Lord, show us the Father and it suffices us"
Jesus replied, "Don't you know me, Philip, even after all the time I've been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The words I say are not mine alone. On the contrary, the Father, who lives in me, is doing his work ".
I love John 10:30-33 - when Jesus said He and God were one!
And, also when Jesus claims to be the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) – only God could give access to Himself.
Great topic, Donny, and it is the pivot point of Christianity. Others here have pointed out the verses that came to my mind as well as the ones you mentioned. I believe if you study the Scriptures, Jesus is in Genesis-Revelation, from the "we" at Creation to seated next to the Father in heaven. Jesus proved he was God by his resurrection from the dead. But first you have to believe that the Bible is true. You can offer up all the verses to non-believers, but if they don't accept that Scripture is the inspired word of God, they won't believe Jesus is God. I love that you continue to have conversations with people who currently don't accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. It's what we are called to do. But WE are not the ones who will bring them to salvation, God does that through His word and His revelation to their hearts. It's on us to continue to share that good news. Thanks for reminding all of us about that!
That is so true Cathey - That it is our place to speak about Jesus to unbelievers but it is Through God the Holy Spirit that they are given the revelation.
Cathey, This discussion is so deep that there are disagreements even among Christians, I've heard preaching that brings some topics that "justify" that Jesus is not God, such as:
Jesus was sent by God (John 3:16)
Jesus spoke with God (Matthew 26:39)
Jesus rose and returned to the arms of the Father (Luke 22:69)
Therefore, I prefer to think of God as a unit – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen, Angela! A unit to be sure. But so many make Jesus the sticking point. They can accept God, and even the Holy Spirit, but the fact that God became human? Nope!
They accept "false gods"! You can't accept one without accepting the other!
Those who rejected Jesus at his time recognized "god" but asked for Jesus' death.
Jesus was rejected by the multitudes who heard his preaching and witnessed his miracles.
Jesus did not live up to the materialistic expectations of the crowd by preaching on heavenly topics to carnal people. The fact is that we found a Jesus who bothered!
For the scribes, Pharisees, accepting the law of the Lord, the spirit of the Christian Beatitudes, brotherly love, required renouncing privileges, first places, they had to change and change is always uncomfortable, so it is “easier” to ignore Jesus , or fight it, discredit it, marginalize it, put it out.
Thank you Donny for a very thought provoking prayer walk. This one really has me thinking. The verses referenced so far in responses and your walk I would point to as validation that Jesus does says He is God. I believe Jesus is God. I agree with those that say it is a difficult concept because it relies on belief and faith in the Trinity. I believe with all my heart and soul in the Trinity. My belief is that the fact that Jesus is God is essential to salvation. If Jesus is not God would His death and resurrection be sufficient to pay the price of the sins of the world against God? In your walk you referenced that Jesus is either Lord, liar or lunatic. We agree that Jesus is Lord over all! Jesus is God. He and His disciples declared that in His Word. On a lighter note, you really do work my brain every Wednesday. I love that. I learn so much from you and the responses from others. Blessings to you and to all in this group. Continued prayers as you continue on your journey.
I am not even going to comment as those that have are far more learned than I. I am taking this journey one step at a time. It is a lot to process for me. The one thing I would like to do is to wish you a belated happy birthday. I hope it was a wonderful time for you and that you have many more to come.
Take care. I enjoy your walks and your inspiring words.
Donny thank you, I appreciate your dedication to these walks. After 4 attempts to watch I finally finished, and I must say as I listened to you reading my mind & heart instantly go to the idea of “a marriage” we are as one. We know there is NO greater love than the love of the Father. Jesus used the word “agape” and that that kind of love can only come from God. So in my opinion I do believe and trust that Jesus claimed to be God because he is the Son of God, and if a husband/wife are supposed to have such a bond that we claim to be as one and our love unites us in that way, then Jesus is united in an “agape love” with God that he is GOD.
These walks are an excellent challenge and your knowledge of scripture is inspiring. You are a teacher and leader. Leading us deeper and growing in the knowledge of Christ.
Thank you.
I too believe Jesus is God.
Thank you to you and the others that have shared scriptures that validate Jesus is God incarnate.
Blessings on your week. Protection from the evil one as you continue to share truth.
One day every eye knee will bow to Jesus as Lord! Jesus is God.
Father, help us to share with others. Holy Spirit open their eyes and ears so many will know and receive Jesus as Lord before that day. By the power of the blood of Jesus and In the mighty name of Jesus
Jesus Christ is God. I've walked with Him for 57 years. I just wanted to thank you for being on Graham Wardles podcast with Jesse and to tell you that I am praying for all 3 of you. For your and Jesse's walk with Jesus, for your witness in the earth and for Graham's Salvation. Thanks for being his friends. I've been praying for Graham for years when he crosses my mind or I see a podcast of his. I was thrilled to watch the one with the 3 of you.
Hi Donny,
Thank you for another prayer walk!
I have no doubt that Jesus is God.
We can confirm this in several scriptures:

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
John 1

John 10:30
